About the artist
Pascale Pratte was born in Montréal in 1974. At age 10 she was selling her drawings in the streets of the old port of Montréal. By the time she was 14, they were sold in Artcraft boutiques in many countries, including France and Belgium.
She studied graphic arts at the CÉGEP du Vieux-Montréal, and then she pursued her studies in digital arts.
A few years later at age 27, she devoted her time completely to her art, which was quickly exhibited across Canada, USA and Europe.
Her portraits speak to us in an uncommon way, as we can see ourselves in them.
“When observed this close, all faces have a unique and singular story to tell, this kind of intimacy brings a new take on portraiture”
To create these extra large portraits, the artist uses small, distinct dots of color, applied in patterns to form the image, a technique influenced by the great masters of pointillism, which gives volume and realism to the subject.
Almost no lines are used to bring the portrait to life, only the contrast of the solid color conveys balance to the composition.
