Liposuction
Body contouring in Montreal
Liposuction is among the top 5 most popular plastic surgery procedures among both men and women. It is often used as a complementary procedure with mommy makeovers, Brazilian butt lifts and breast surgeries.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction at Station L Montreal
Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess fat from the body via suction through small incisions. While diet and exercise can be effective in fat loss, we cannot choose where the body will lose fat. Liposuction is an effective way to contour the body in a way that matches your aesthetic tastes. Body contouring liposuction does remove fat cells, and can be permanent providing you maintain a stable weight.

What is Liposculpture & Lipo360?
What is the difference between liposuction, liposculpture & Lipo360?
Liposculpture, or body sculpting is a variation of liposuction that treats all of the same areas that can be treated with liposuction, but is used to remove less extreme amounts of fat in smaller areas as opposed to larger areas covered by liposuction. This treatment is aimed at fine-tuning and sculpting the contours of the body rather than transforming the area from large to small.
Lipo360 targets the entire circumference of the abdomen, re-contouring the waist using 360 degree liposuction and is an excellent addition to a mommy makeover, resulting in an hourglass waist and flat stomach.
The ideal liposculpture candidate should have good skin elasticity, should be a non-smoker, and close to or at their ideal weight with a BMI of 30 or under.
Candidates who are in good physical shape with very little fat to remove will see the best results.
Who is a liposuction candidate?
Consider if you are a candidate for liposuction
If you are bothered by excess fat in specific areas of the body that will not respond to diet and exercise, then you may consider body contouring liposuction as a solution.
Liposuction candidates:
- Should be in good overall physical health. Good overall health means that you have no untreated serious illnesses or active infections. Any health conditions should be discussed with your plastic surgeon to determine if liposuction is right for you.
- Are non-smokers or will be able to quit smoking for at least 6 weeks before the surgery and during recovery.
- Are near their ideal weight but have excess areas of fat that do not respond to diet or exercise, are disproportionate to the rest of the body, and cause dissatisfaction to the patient’s self-image
- Should understand the risks of liposuction and have realistic expectations of the possible results.
- Do not have excess skin (massive weight loss patients or excess skin after pregnancy may require surgical intervention such as abdominoplasty/tummy tuck to remove the skin).

What to expect for liposuction recovery
Liposuction recovery can vary from patient to patient in regards to healing and discomfort with pain being anywhere from mild to moderate. It is our goal at Station L to ensure that your entire experience from the initial consultation to your recovery is as positive and comfortable as possible. Your plastic surgeon and surgical coordinator will go over your post-operative instructions and recovery with you as it is essential for your liposuction recovery and results that you follow care guidelines closely.
You will need to wear compression garments to help with swelling and to compress the skin to help the body adapt to the new contours after liposuction or liposcultpture.
First 24 hours: Have someone in place to pick you up from your surgery and care for you at home
Compression garments: 4-6 weeks
Back to work: 2-3 days, depending on your job. Depending on the extent of your liposuction and what type of job you have, you may want to take 1 week off.
Exercise: Light exercise after 1-2 weeks (light cardio-walking/treadmill), Full activities (such as weights) after 6 weeks
Final results: swelling may persist up to 3-6 months
